Our story
From apprentice to running the whole build.
Jake Killen started an apprenticeship straight from school, spending three years on loft conversions, and went self-employed as soon as he qualified, taking on many different aspects of carpentry.
He then worked as a carpenter in Australia before returning home to continue his career, carrying out everything from kitchen fitting to building timber frame houses.
Later, as a groundworker with a house building company, Jake gained a much broader knowledge of the whole build, including groundworks, bricklaying and carpentry, working alongside nearly every other trade. It's the reason he can run your project from start to finish.
Today JCK Carpentry & Building helps homeowners from its base at 16 Bridge Road, Exeter. We specialise in carpentry, kitchen fitting, flooring, cut & truss roofs, garden rooms, bespoke furniture & wardrobes, extensions, bathroom fitting, loft conversions.
We work across Exeter, Exmouth, Dawlish, Cullompton, Tiverton, Crediton, Teignmouth, Silverton and Honiton.

A deposit secures your booking, with stage payments on larger projects. Invoices are sent online and paid by bank transfer.
